YouTube Music not on Music Playback Controls

It appears that Google have removed driving playback controls support for all media except their own YT Music and Spotify. Disgraceful though ...

1) Disable then re-enable the show media playback controls setting. 2) Disable auto updates for google maps in play store, then uninstall google maps updates.

Try deleting (not offloading) both apps, then re-install maps first, followed by youtube music. if that does not work, try it in reverse order.

When using google maps, if I try and play music via a YouTube music voice command it will play it, but if I tap it it will no longer bring up the driving mode.
